Ed Exley is assigned to be responsible for the precinct in the Christmas Night, he denounces many fellow officers for the beating on six Mexican guys in the precinct and is promoted to lieutenant. The violent Detective Bud White, disturbed by the death of his partner Richard 'Dick' Stensland, investigates the Night Owl massacre, where Stensland was murdered. The celebrity Jack Vincennes also investigates and discovers secrets about the murder in the middle of several cases of corruption and blackmail.
