Hilarious but harrowing, the film charts the disintegration of the friendship between Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, Tommy and Begbie as they proceed seemingly towards a psychotic, drug-fuelled self-destruction.

    Despite being somewhat infrequent, the violence 'Trainspotting' does have is very strong.

    Very bloody depiction of a woman screaming having a beer glass thrown on her head (aftermath shown on her face). Palms are slashed and people get hit by Begbie during his outbursts, with bloody results.

    A bar fight occurs in which numerous punches are throw, but this is brief.

    A man is cut in the hand by a knife, we briefly see the wound. This is very bloody.

    Trainspotting has many disgusting and uncomfortable scenes even though it is a dark comedy.

    The toilet scene is very disgusting and uncomfortable.

    Theres a scene near the end where Begbie glasses and beats a man and cuts Spuds hand it's brief but is serious.

    Scene of a dead baby in a cot who later appears in a drug withdrawal hallucination.

    The violence is brief, but it can be shocking.
